Blacksmith artisan Chip Hunt, of Brazil, will share his talents during the Popcorn Festival of Clay County, Sept. 29-Oct. 1.
Hunt showed his work to members of the Popcorn Festival Committee Thursday night during its regular meeting at City Hall.
Hunt makes roses, basket racks and other items from iron, using blacksmithing techniques. He can be contacted at 448-2171.
Arlene Myers attended the meeting, suggesting a dance for all ages during the festival.
She will pursue her idea and report back to the committee at its June 15th meeting at Forest Park. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. in the Popcorn House/Rotary Headquarters shelter.
Heather Palmer, the 2006 Popcorn Festival queen, wrote a letter that was read at the meeting. Heather thanked the committee for its hospitality and expressed her enthusiasm to be chosen the first Popcorn Festival of Clay County queen.
In addition to reigning over the festival, she will participate in a statewide pageant in the fall.
