You may be wondering, "How can I be eligible to participate?"
Well, participants must be 16 and cannot have had their 21st birthday by Aug. 18. If you fit this criteria, I strongly urge you to consider participating in the pageant.
Being the queen is not just all about the crown, it goes much deeper. During my reign, I thoroughly enjoyed my time learning, laughing, crying, loving, and growing.
Being an 11-year 4-H member, I thought I knew everything there was to know about the County Fair. Oh how I was wrong!
I was able to see every aspect of the fair and participate in everything.
There were animal shows to pass out ribbons, fashion revues to help at, parades to ride in, food to taste, people to meet, awards to hand out, and friends to make. Also, I was featured in newspapers and interviewed on television!
As the reigning fair queen I had the opportunity to compete in the State Fair Queen Pageant along with a queen representing every county in Indiana. The county competition takes place on July 15th and the state competition is a weekend in August.
Being this past year's queen has been such an honor and a privilege and I have made memories that I will cherish for the rest of my life. I hope everyone eligible will consider participating and that the rest of the community offers their support to the queen candidates.
The pageant will be held at the 4-H Fairgrounds on Saturday, July 15, at 7 p.m. Any individual, business or organization may sponsor a contestant in the 2006 pageant. A recent wallet size photo and entry fee of $35 (make checks payable to Clay County Queen and Princess Pageant) must accompany all entries.
Deadline for entering the pageant is Friday, June 23. All entries must be mailed to the address on the entry form.
Forms can be picked up at The Brazil Times office during normal business hours. For more information, please contact Pageant Director Elaine Clarke at 446-6203.
