- Owners say only question is, 'When?'

Barbecue connoisseurs Rick and Kathy Bell are working overtime in preparation for the opening of a new barbecue restaurant in the area within the new few weeks. There are two names for the new eatery which will be at 111 E. National Ave., but there has been some slight confusion about when it would open.

"I've been telling people it would be open in the next couple of months for weeks now," Rick said, laughing. "But we're almost there now, so I can say its only a couple of weeks away now. We're down to the wire now."

The Bells, owners of Traditions, started out with the intentions of expanding their catering business, but after looking at the building also decided to open a western-themed eatery.

Barbecue is the one food they search for during every vacation.

"When we went to Florida recently, it was the first thing we went to look for, a barbecue restaurant," he said. "We love good barbecue."

The couple admits to another passion, refurbishing old buildings.

"We have so much fun doing this and this is such a wonderful old building," Kathy said.

The couple has maintained structural details, such as intricate ceiling panels and hardwood floors, while updating the facility for use.

"Its too bad that more people don't take the time to do this," she said. "Inside will be beautiful when we're finished."
