Weekend storm downs trees

Tuesday, June 27, 2006

Left: The towering pine in his front yard -- which Halcomb said is visible in a photograph of the property taken in 1908-- fell into a nearby power line, leaving Halcomb and a few neighbors without electricity until Monday afternoon.

Right: Halcomb also lost two maple trees, both approaching 60 feet in height. He and friend George Lewis (on left) began cleaning up the mess Monday.

The late-afternoon thunderstorms that whipped through the area Sunday wreaked particular havoc on the property of Robbin Halcomb, 3700 West SR 340, Brazil.

Halcomb lost three large trees to the storm, each one perfectly healthy and around 60 feet tall.

Halcomb's home suffered minor electrical and gutter in the storm, the result of wind-blown tree limbs striking the house.
