'National Emblem' to be Brazil Concert Band's Independence Day program

The Brazil Concert Band, under the direction of Matthew S. Huber, will present "National Emblem" in celebration of Independence Day this Sunday July 2nd, 8: p.m., at the Forest Park Band Shell or Pavilion if rain.

This very patriotic program will offer "Hail to the Spirit of Liberty," "The Naval Reserve," "The Invincible Eagle" and "The Stars and Stripes Forever" all by John Philip Sousa.

Veterans of all wars and all services will be honored with "Armed Forces Salute" by Lowden.

Meredith Willson's "The Music Man" with "Seventy Six Trombones," "Till There Was You," "Lida Rose" and "Marian the Librarian" are scheduled.

Held over from last week is "Fugue on Yankee Doodle" which includes the three versions of the Revolutionary War era tune written during the career of Sousa.

In addition, the Sudler Award- winning BCB will play "The Fourth of July" by Cacavas, "The Chimes of Liberty" by Goldman, "America the Beautiful" by Dragon, "Apotheosis" by Nestico and "National Emblem" by Bagley.
