$1,000 donation

Monday, July 3, 2006

In honor of the Global Service Event, Duke Energy donated $1,000 to the Clay County 4-H Council Friday. Duke also trenched a path for underground electric wires to service campsites at the Clay County 4-H Fairgrounds.

President of the Clay County 4-H Council, Jim Smith, said the money will be used to improve the roads at the fairgrounds, improve arenas and other general maintenance. The council has received various donations to aid in the formation of about 25 more campsites to be used during the Clay County 4-H Fair.

During this year's fair, the grounds will be able to accommodate about 50 motorhomes or campers and 25 tents.
