Mansfield to be site for festival this weekend

The seventh annual Mansfield Village Woodworkers and Whittlers Festival is set for July 8-9.

The Montgomery County Woodworkers & Carvers Association, Putnam County Woodworkers Association and Persimmon Ridge will provide demonstrations. A whittler's contest will be Saturday afternoon to find the Master Whittler of the festival.

Village shops will be open with vendors throughout town.

Phil Vassar will perform a concert at 7 p.m. Saturday with Dana Sewell and Copper Canyon.

Tickets cost $22, $25 and $27 and may be purchased at the Hilltop Farm Box Office by calling 765-344-1889.

"Cast for a Cure," a children's fishing rodeo, will start at 8 a.m. Sunday. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. and the cost is $5. Proceeds will benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Age divisions will be ages 5 and younger, ages 6-8, 9-11 and 12-15. Contestants should bring their own fishing equipment and bait.

An auction will be held Sunday afternoon.
