German music on bill Sunday

Wednesday, July 12, 2006

The Brazil Concert Band and "Herr Direktor von Huber" will present "Black Forest Park Musikfest" by popular demand in recognition of the Wabash Valley's German heritage.

The music will begin early, at 7:15 p.m., with a roving German oom-pah band entertaining concert-goers as they enter the park.

The full concert band will perform at 8 p.m.

All the favorite Oktoberfest waltzes, polkas and marches will be featured including "Alte Kameraden," "Der Graf Zeppelin," "Hoch Heidecksburg," "Kaiser-Parade," "Prager Festmarsch" and even the theme from TV's "Hogan's Heroes".

The waltz potpourri "Prost Stimmung!" and the march medley "Knallbonbons" both purchased in Germany especially for the Brazil Concert Band will have the crowd swaying in the aisles.

German composer Beethoven's "Overture Eroica" and the Austrian "A Mozart Festival" will compliment a well rounded evening of entertainment.
