On Thursday, Marshall Nuckolls, president of Farm Bureau; Dave Henry and Jack Cappa, both Farm Bureau Insurance agents presented the president of the Clay County 4-H Council, Jim Smith, with a check for $1,000.

Smith said the check will help pay for completion and maintenance of new campsites at the 4-H Fairgrounds.

Smith looks forward to reducing the cost of travel for parents and family members of children in 4-H who have to be present to show animals during the 4-H Fair.

He said many families live in the southern portion of the county and spend a lot of money in gasoline traveling back and forth to care and show their animals. The campsites will allow the families to save money while staying close to the animal entered into the fair for judging.
