Area residents and visitors should be aware a Heat Advisory remains in effect today through 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Temperatures in the mid- to upper-90s combined with high humidity will combine to push the heat index into the 105- to 110-degree range, according to the National Weather Service.

Evening temperatures will remain warm as well, only cooling into the middle 70s tonight.

A Heat Advisory is issued when high temperatures and humidity combine to make heat illnesses possible.

The National Weather Service advises people stay in an air-conditioned room if possible, stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors.

The Heat Advisory was issued for 39 counties in Indiana, including Clay County.
