Model of new Bridgeton Bridge is on display at Riddell National Bank.
By DIANE DIERKS
The replica of the Bridgeton covered bridge is on display in the foyer of the main Brazil branch of the Riddell National Bank. According to Mark Nolin, Riddell vice president, the replica was built by Ben Hill of St. Bernice, Ind., and is constructed to a 3/4 inch = 1 foot scale and represents one half of the double span bridge. The reproduction measures approximately 8 feet and was originally built for a fundraiser and then purchased by Robert and Debbie Jones, of Joneses Place, Bridgeton, who loaned the replica to the bank.
Riddell National Bank has opened an account for donations and has contributed $1,000 to the fund. Proceeds will go to the Bridgeton Covered Bridge Association for replacement of the bridge. Donations will be accepted at all Riddell National Bank branches and those who give $50 or more will receive a commemorative DVD of 33 Parke County covered bridges including, Bridgeton, Jeffries Ford and Cole Creek.
