Firefighters remain on scene at Staunton for more than 2 1/2 hours

A residential fire broke out at 106 W. Polk St., in Staunton Wednesday evening at approximately 6 p.m. The structure was a one-story wooden frame home. Dick Johnson Twp. Fire Dept., Jackson Twp. Fire Dept., Posey Twp. Fire Dept., Trans-Care Ambulance, Clay County Search and Rescue, and the American Red Cross responded to the call. According to the Clay County Dispatch office, no one was inside the building at the time of the fire and there were no injuries reported.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.

Crews remained on the scene past 8:30 p.m.
