Members of the Staunton Town Board are requesting all residents to lower their flags to half staff in memory of their "small town hero" Erett Miller.

"This tragedy has affected everyone in town," said Cathy Mienheartt, a board member. "Errett Miller has helped everyone in this town, whether directly or indirectly, at some point. He was a good man who will be sorely missed."

The Town Hall will be closed Friday because of Miller's funeral services.

"The funeral procession will be coming through town," she said. "We hope that people are able to come out and be alongside the road when it goes through."

Mienheartt will accept calls from people looking for information about the funeral procession route at 448-1487.
