VINCENNES, Ind. -- Candidates for U.S. Representative in the 8th District will debate on Oct. 4, 7 p.m. at the television studios of WVUT (PBS) at Vincennes University.
The Leagues of Women Voters of Knox County (Vincennes), Southwest Indiana (Evansville), Bloomington-Monroe County, and Vigo County (Terre Haute) will host the debate between Republican U.S. Representative John Hostettler and his Democrat challenger, Vanderburgh County Sheriff Brad Ellsworth.
The debate will be broadcast live over the following Public Television and Public Radio stations that together cover more than 90 percent of the households in the 8th Congressional District:Â WVUT-TV, WVUB 91.1 FM, Vincennes University; WNIN-TV, WNIN 88.3 FM, Evansville; and WTIU-TV, WFIU 103.7 FM, Bloomington.
WTWO (NBC), Terre Haute, also will broadcast the debate, according to the League.
Details of the debate format will be released by the League at a later date.
The League of Women Voters is a district-wide, non-partisan citizens group that is recognized and respected for its efforts to promote active and informed citizen participation in government.
"We look forward to hosting this debate for the benefit the voters of the 8th District," said Peggy Evans, candidate liaison for the Leagues of Women Voters of the Indiana 8th District.
Vincennes University is a state-supported college with campuses in Vincennes and Jasper and additional sites such as the Indianapolis International Airport.
