A 911 call reporting a possible drunk driver on S.R. 59 just north of I-70 around 11:40 p.m. Wednesday led to the driver's arrest for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, possession of marijuana and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Clay County Sheriff's Deputy Jerry Siddons located the driver just south of the intersection of C.R. 700 N and S.R. 59, continuing to follow the vehicle northbound until it was pulled over after turning west on C.R. 800 N.
The smell of what appeared to be burning marijuana was strong inside the vehicle as Deputy Siddons questioned John D. Kreilein III, 19, of Brazil.
After failing field sobriety tests, Kreilein was taken into custody for preliminary charges of operating while intoxicated, possession of marijuana/ hashish and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Siddons also observed and questioned three other passengers in the vehicle, a 15-, 16- and an 18-year-old. The parents of the three teenagers were contacted and advised to pick up their children at the Clay County Justice Center. It is unclear about their involvement at this time, but the case remains under investigation.
While preparing to tow Kreilein's, officers located a substance similar to marijuana.
Kreilein was transported to the Clay County Justice Center shortly after midnight and booked in with a $7,000, 10 percent, cash bond. He bonded out later in the afternoon to await arraignment.
