Parent-teacher conferences mean some schedule changes

Tuesday, October 10, 2006

Clay Community Schools will hold individual parent/teacher conferences for all parents with children in preschool, including the LEAAP Program, through the sixth grade.

Clay City Elementary will continue conferences for kindergarten through sixth grade, whereas, the six other elementary schools will conference only through the fifth grade.

This conference is an extremely valuable experience for both parents and teachers. The conferences will help parents understand more about their child's progress in school and will also help teachers learn more about their students.

Elementary students will be dismissed for the afternoon on Thursday and Friday, Oct. 12 and 13. Most conferences will be arranged on Thursday during the afternoon and evening.

State guidelines require schools to be in session approximately one-half day during fall conferences. to assure that kindergarten classrooms are adequately covered, kindergarten conference days will vary throughout the corporation. Parents of kindergarten students will be notified of specific conference information from their child's school.

There will be no preschool classes on Oct. 12 and 13. The middle school, junior high and senior high schools will be in session as usual.

Lunch will be served to students before they are dismissed.

The schedule for dismissal for both days will be as follows:

-Jackson Twp., Staunton and Van Buren -- 11:15 a.m.

-Clay City, East Side, Forest Park and Meridian -- 11:30 a.m.
