In his own words ...

Joe Trout

candidate for

Circuit Court Judge

I am Joe Trout and I would very much appreciate your vote and support in the November election for the office of Judge of the Clay Circuit Court. I have extensive ties to Clay County having lived 42 of my 50 years in this county and growing up on the Casassa Dairy Farm, my family's business. My wife, Nancy, has been a pre-school teacher in Clay County for 25 years. Nancy and I both graduated from Staunton High School and Indiana State University. We have three children, Josh (a history teacher at Northview High School), Katie (a senior at Indiana State University), and Tyler (an eighth grader at North Clay Middle School). I obtained my law degree from Indiana University School of Law at Indianapolis. I was admitted to the Indiana Bar in 1983 and I am licensed to practice law in all State Courts in the State of Indiana, as well as the United States Federal District Court for the Southern District of Indiana.

I have been a lawyer for 23 years and I have courtroom experience in both State and Federal Courts. I am very much interested in public service and have served the State of Indiana as a Felony Trial Deputy Prosecutor. I have tried cases against many Defendants for many different crimes and I have tried and obtained convictions in cases involving murder, child molestation, felony drunk driving, cruelty to animals and drug offenses of all kinds. I have also represented the City of Brazil as Brazil City Attorney.

In my private practice, I have personally had cases in 19 different counties in the State of Indiana, and have trial experience in many different areas of the civil practice, including wrongful death, defective products, insurance claims, child custody, child support and juvenile law. In short I believe that extensive trial experience for a candidate seeking a position as a trial judge is a good fit.

I have a strong sense of justice and I truly believe "Justice is the Judge's job." I would like you to know that I would be proud to be your Circuit Court Judge. If you elect me to this position and place your trust in me, I won't let you down.
