In her own words: Vickie Lawhorn, candidate for Clay County Treasurer

Tuesday, October 31, 2006

My name is Vickie Lawhorn and I am the Democrat candidate for Clay County Treasurer. For those of you who may not know me, I would like to officially introduce myself and tell a little about my personal life, my current duties serving Clay County, and what my goals are to improve Clay County if I am elected Treasurer.

I have been a business woman in Clay County since 1967. I am presently a property manager for Calumet Equity Corp. and Capital Residential, and an associate realtor with Century 21 Hometown Realty. I am very involved in the community and I am actively serving on the Brazil Township Advisory Board. I am president of Clay Business Women, and I am on the Board of Directors of the Optimist Club as well. In the past I have served the community as President of the Optimist Club, President of the Board of Realtors, Vice-President of the BPW and Vice-President of the Democrat Central Committee.

I have lived in Clay County for all of my life and I am the oldest of five children. I have been married for 46 years to my loving husband, Eddie Lawhorn, who is also an active member of the community. My husband and I have three children and six grandchildren. I am a member of First Christian Church. I strongly encourage family involvement in the community. If I am elected Clay County Treasurer, I will work hard to do several things to improve the community and life of Clay County. As Treasurer, I believe in promoting and aiding the advancement of our community through dedicated service to the job. I will do this for the citizens of Clay County and our future generations. I believe that with all of my present and past service for the community of Clay County, I am well qualified for the job as Treasurer. I will listen to your concerns, and work hard for the citizens of Clay County to the best of my ability.

Regardless of political preference, I urge everyone to go and vote Nov. 7.
