Sheese fills in for Bradshaw

Wednesday, August 8, 2007

Those who had to conduct business with the Brazil City Mayor Tuesday did a double take for a reason.

Interim Mayor Ann Bradshaw was not in the office Tuesday. In her place, however, was another familiar face as Brazil City Council President Jim Sheese filled in.

Sheese said he filled in for Bradshaw Tuesday because she had to go out of town for personal reasons.

"She wanted to know if I'd come in and sit in," Sheese said. "She called me last week and said she was going to be out of town with her husband. I told her I would help her out."

Ironically, Sheese will be running against Bradshaw for the Mayor's position in November.

Sheese said he's no stranger to the office at City Hall.

"I used to do that when Mayor (Kenny) Crabb would go on vacation," he said. "I think I did a lot when (Crabb) was in his first year of office."

"I just felt more comfortable having someone in the office," Bradshaw said.

It was business as usual at City Hall Tuesday, regardless of who was sitting in the mayor's chair.

"It's not been real busy," Sheese said. "But you never know."

Bradshaw is expected to be back in office today.
