Local church offering new sermons and discounted gas

Wednesday, August 8, 2007

BOWLING GREEN -- What could be better than serving the community, sharing the love of Christ, and helping a fellow man? Getting gas at a discounted price might come close.

The First Christian Church of Brazil wants to do just that, and it's inviting anyone from the community to join them in celebrating the "Great Gas Buy-Down."

First Christian Church, in partnership with Phillips 66, is inviting the community to stop by the Phillips 66 station, on the corner of Murphy Rd. and Highway 40, on Saturday, Aug. 18 from 9-10:30 a.m., or while supplies last, to purchase up to 10 gallons of gas at a 25 cent discount per gallon. At the same time, the FCC will make the public aware of a new series of sermons titled "Relationship-Rescue" which will begin on Aug. 19, and continue through Sept. 16.

"We all know that people have and will drive miles out of their way to save money on gas. We want to save them that trip, and at the same time serve our community and invite them to church," Senior Minister Bob Witte said. "We hope they will enjoy the discounted gas and see how FCC can top-off their hearts with this life-changing series. There is a message for every situation people are facing today. Marriage maintenance, dating dilemmas, dealing with divorce, and family feuds will all be addressed. The messages are sure to be uplifting and relevant. We want families to know there is hope when things get rough."

The discounted gasoline will be available on first-come, first-serve basis, and be limited to 10 gallons per vehicle.

"We have limited funds for this event so make sure to get there early," Witte said.
