TERRE HAUTE -- Under less than ideal conditions at Rea Park Golf Course, the Northview girls' golf team shot a team score of 420 at the Terre Haute South Invitational on Tuesday afternoon.
With temperatures soaring into the high 90's, Jasper's Wildcats shot an impressive round of 337, paced by Kate Brosmer's 73 and Paige Schroeder's 77. They narrowly edged out Washington's team score of 342. The Hatchets were led by Darin Pinnick and Lauren McDonald who each carded an 80.
Northview senior Mary Beth Tribble went out in a 39, but slipped to a 47 on the back nine for a score of 86 to lead the Knights. Mandy Thomlinson was next for the Knights with a 106 followed by a 112 from Olivia Oehler, a 116 from Sunny Shaw and a 125 from Savanah Purcell.
Terre Haute South shot a 382 and were led by Sloane Engle's 85 with South Putnam a stroke back with a 383. Emily Zimmerman tallied an 80 to lead the Eagles. Terre Haute North came in with a 462 in the 12-team field and got a 108 from Danielle Rosselli to lead the team.
The Knights were coming off a 12th-place finish in the Mooresville Invitational on Monday, shooting a 431. They edged out the Braves by 11 strokes in the match which was won by Brebeuf Jesuit's 319. Brownsburg shot a 351 for second and beat Washington's 353.
Northview is back in action today at Clover Meadows where they will face the host Cloverdale squad as well as White River Valley and Linton beginning at 11 a.m.
