Illa E. (Frye) Grady, 99, Pendleton, formerly of New Castle, died late Friday evening, Aug. 10, 2007, at the Rawlings House Nursing Home in Pendleton following an extended illness.
Born Nov. 9, 1907, in Brazil, she was the daughter of James and Alice (Cotton)_Frye.
She had attended the Baptist Church in Brazil, where she lived most of her life.
When she was younger, she enjoyed sewing and embroidering.
Illa is survived by three daughters, Mary Justice, New Castle, Janet Reddy and husband Paul, Anderson, and Janice Morgan and husband William, Goshen, Ohio; five grandchildren, Mark Davis, Kelly Shirley, Dana Davis, Amy Conrad and Kevin Kern; four great-grandchildren, Morgan Dean, Danielle Swafford, Errick Jarrett and Ryan Shirley, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Grady, who died in September of 1984, daughter Amelia Kern, who died in March of 1989, several brothers and sisters also preceded her in death.
Funeral services for Illa E. Grady will take place at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Main and Davis Funeral Home, Broad St. Chapel, New Castle, with Pastor Bobby Slagle officiating. Burial will follow in the South Mound Cemetery.
Visitation is from noon until time of service Tuesday.
