Evelyn Ilene McClain, 77, Frankfort, formerly of Clay County, died at 9:45 a.m., Wednesday, at her residence.
Born May 27, 1930, in Carbon, she was the daughter of John Robert and Fay (Tribble) Egloff.
She graduated from Van Buren High School in 1948 as co-valedictorian. She received her bachelor's degree from Indiana State Teacher's College in 1952 and her master's in 1953.
She taught one year in the Frankfort school system as a speech and hearing therapist and was a member of the Psi Iota Xi Sorority.
She married John McClain on July 7, 1954. He preceded her in death on Dec. 2, 2003.
Survivors include daughters Karen Ilene Miller and husband Greg, Frankfort, Suzanne Lynette Taylor, Nome, Ala., and Julia Kay Zurschmiede and husband Eric, Frankfort; sons Roger Addison and wife Sue, Frankfort, John Kelly and wife Sara Jane, The Woodlands, Texas, and Robert Todd and wife Tammie, Katy, Texas; sister Virginia Aker, Carbon; grandchildren Matthew, Mark, Renee, Chad, Tara, Elizabeth, John, Sarah, Michael, Amelia, Graham, Sophia, Maria and Adam; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Steven Floyd, sister Betty Linton, brother John Fredrick, grandchild Josh and great-grandchild Scott Taylor.
Services took place at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, 2007, at Genda Funeral Home, Frankfort, with Pastor Shan Sheridan officiating. Burial will be at Green Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.
