Knights volleyball opens with win
MOORESVILLE -- There's nothing like opening the season with a victory, especially when it comes against a team that is in your sectional. The Northview volleyball teams traveled to Mooresville on Monday evening and came away with a varsity and junior varsity victory against the Pioneers.
The varsity squad, under first-year head coach Scott McDonald, scored a three-game victory over the Pioneers, 25-19, 25-18, 25-9 to advance to 1-0 in 2007.
"For the most part we passed really well," said McDonald of his Knights. "In the first game we had some jitters, but we rate each pass and we had 24 passes that we considered perfect in the match."
The Knights got 14 kills from senior Lottie King and another four apiece from Kaley Huffman and Cari Laue.
Ashley Hull lead the team with three service aces and both Hannah Emmert and Laue had two aces apiece.
Lindsay Thomas topped the squad with 14 assists and Kylar Clark added eight digs with Huffman contributing six for the Knights.
The JV team was an 18-25, 25-24, 15-7 victor over the Pioneers and the 'C' team lost in three games.
Northview will be back in action at 6 p.m. tonight at Greencastle High School in a varsity/JV doubleheader.
