The Brazil Concert Band, under the direction of Matthew S. Huber, will present "From Tropic To Tropic," Sunday, Aug. 19, at the Forest Park Band Shell.
In case of rain, the concert will take place in the Forest Park pavilion.
"From Tropic To Tropic" is a rousing circus march by Russell Alexander, a circus euphonium player of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The BCB will also perform his "Olympia Hippodrome" and "The Southerner."
The BCB will feature John Philips Sousa's best-known suite, "Dwellers of the Western World" and one of his lesser known marches, "The Federal."
A series of Shaker tunes, "Simple Gifts," arranged by Frank Tichili is scheduled and in contrast, the BCB will play "A Salute to Spike Jones."
From the pen of British composer Gustav Holst, the BCB will include excerpts of his "Second Suite in F."
