CLAY CITY -- In their second game of the year, Clay City defeated visiting South Putnam in a three set match on Thursday evening.
The Eels got seven kills and eight digs from Angie Camp and a five kills night from Britney Glass to score a 25-17, 25-18, 25-17 win over the Eagles.
"I was really impressed with our serving," said coach Trisha Hall. "We were much better than we were against Union (Dugger). In fact, six-of-eight girls who serve, were perfect."
The Eels also got three aces, four kills and four digs from Hannah Moore while Kelly McCullough contributed five kills, a block, three digs and 12 assists. Lynsey Higgins lead the team with two blocks.
Despite moving to 2-0 on the year, Hall feels like her team has some aspects to work on in the coming weeks.
"Mentally I don't think we were tough enough. We gave them the opportunity to fight back and (South Putnam) did that. We had to battle back ourselves to win."
In the JV match, the Eels won 25-21, 25-14 as Jayci Bryan had seven service points with an ace and Olivia Schindler lead the way with 12 points and three aces.
