Hazel L. Mace, 85, Center Point, died at 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, 2007 at her residence.

She was born March 27, 1922 in Clay County, as the daughter of Curt and Pearl Fielden Mattox.

On March 30, 1941 she married Russell Mace who preceded her in death.

She was a homemaker and had worked for several years at Columbia Records. She attended the Berea Church and was a member of Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, granddaughter Barbara Heise, sister Lillian Tate and two brothers Leroy Mattox and Bobby Mattox.

She is survived by two daughters Linda Brown and her husband Jim of Center Point and Rita Jane Sneath of Brazil; one son Jerry Mace and his wife Debbie of Brazil; six grandchildren Brad Brown, Brenda Neese, Amy Maesch, Jackie Shaw, Joe Mace and JR Mace; 11 great-grandchildren, Abagial and Alexis Maesch, Jacob Brown, Paul Heise, Lynn, Cullen, Haley, Noah and Gavin Mace, and Hillary and Mitchell Thomas; a great-great-grandchild, Logan Andrew Heise; one sister Ruth Reed of Clay City; three brothers Charlie Mattox of Jasonville, Ralph Mattox of Terre Haute and Eugene Mattox of California; long-time companion Bill Head; and several nieces and nephews.

At the request of the deceased, her body will be cremated. Her cremated remains will be buried at Maple Grove Cemetery near Clay City at a later date. Moore Funeral Home has been entrusted with her arrangements.
