She was born Feb. 2, 1926, in Clay County to Peter and Verna Thomas Zurcher.
On October 27, 1946 she married William D. Tiefel. Laurena was a homemaker, a 1944 graduate of Clay City High School, a charter member of the Ever Welcome Homemakers Club, the Cory Zion Church and the Church's Ladies Circle and worked with the Emmaus Community and she loved Baking and Gardening.
She was preceded in the death by her parents and a brother, LeLand Zurcher.
Survivors include her husband Bill Tiefel; a son, Joe Tiefel and wife Joyce of Clay City; a daughter, Peggy Booe and her husband, Bill of Clay City; a sister, Jo Ann Zurcher of Riley; 6 grandchildren, Kimberly Villain and husband Joe of Clay City, Kristina Kaufman and husband Doug of Bainbridge, Kent Booe and wife Tina of Clay City, Kyle Booe of Clay City, Ben Tiefel and wife Anna of Lafayette and Sam Tiefel of Clay City; five great-grandchildren, Korey Simonson, Haleigh and Hannah Villain and Saiti and Morgan Booe.
Services will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2007, in the Schoppenhorst Funeral Home in Clay City with visitation from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Wednesday in the funeral home prior to the services. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery.
