38th Annual Cory Apple Festival

The Cory Volunteer Fire Department and the Cory Community will be presenting the 38th Annual Cory Apple Festival, Sept. 28-30.

Featured meals at the firehouse include a Hog Roast, Jonah Fish Fry and Chicken Noodle Dinner. There will be a One Mile Fun Run/Walk and 5K Race. Hoosier Hills will sponsor a Golf Scramble.

During the weekend there will be a car and motorcycle show, farm show and toy display, parade, helicopter rides, mechanical bull, carnival and rides and live country and gospel music. All around town you will find plenty of Craft, Flea Market, Antique, Yard Sale and Food Booths.

Booth space is still available for anyone interested in having a craft, flea market, antique or food booth. To reserve your spot, contact Lana Hendrix at 812-864-2229.

The farm show and toy display is again being hosted by Bob Clifton. If you are interested in displaying your antique farm equipment or small engines for the show, please contact him at 812-864-2665.

The One Mile Fun Run and Walk, followed by a 5K Race will be held on Saturday, Sept. 29. Registration will be from 8-8:30 a.m. The One Mile will begin at 8:45 a.m. with the 5K starting at approximately 9 am. Early registration is encouraged before Sept. 15. $18 (adult) and $10 (children 11 and under) fees include t-shirts and awards. Entrance fee the day of the race is $20 (adult) and $15 (child).

A special award will be given out this year to the best apple themed entrant. Forms can be printed from online at www.wvrr.org. Select Area Races and Cory Race. Contact Kim Jackson at 812-864-2422 with any further questions.

Hoosier Hills Golf Course will sponsor a golf scramble Saturday, Sept. 29 starting at 8:30am. There will be awards. Contact Hoosier Hills to register early at 812-864-2304.

Saturday will also be the All New Car and Motorcycle Show. The show will run from Noon to 4pm. Judging will end at 2pm and Awards presented at 4pm. There will be cash drawings held every half hour and DJ music all afternoon. Pre-registration is $8 due by Sept. 15. All pre-registers will receive a t-shirt, dash plaque and be entered into a drawing for a free entry for the 2008 show. Registration will be $10 the day of the show. For anyone unfamiliar with the area, Cory is a small town located just East of Terre Haute on State Road 46.
