The Knights' No. 1 singles player, Austin Akers, made short work of Doug Benton, winning 6-0, 6-2 in a match that lasted less than one hour. Clint Reynolds had to go the distance to get his win at No. 3 singles, eventually taking a 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 win against Ruevan David.
"Austin played a good match," commented coach Tom West. "Our No. 1 doubles played well too. (WRV) had some good kids on their team."
The Wolverines' Tyler Zimmerly did battle back from a first set loss to Adam Clark, 7-5, to post 6-0, 7-6 (7-1) victories in the final two sets at No. 2 singles.
Brock Lawson and Caleb Mershon also had a quick match, taking a 6-0, 6-1 win over Stephen Moore and Matt Dyar at No. 2 doubles. Northview's Ryne Barr and Matt Nodley also teamed for a victory, 6-1, 6-3, at No. 1 doubles.
"We're going to keep improving," commented West. "I think we're going to have a good team."
"We're beginning to get a little knowledge that we can pass on," said West of his upperclassmen. "I'm teaching more this year than I think I have since I've been here."
The Knights will travel to Greencastle to face the Tiger Cubs on Sept. 4.
