But after winning the 2007 Popcorn Festival Scholarship Pageant, she was ready.
"I'm very surprised," Little said after being crowned Miss 2007 Popcorn Festival. "I just wanted to have fun. I didn't expect to win. But it's very exciting.
"I was expecting to have fun with my friends."
Little also had the chance to wear her 2007 Northview High School prom dress one more time during the evening gown portion of Saturday's contest.
Little was one of five contestants in the pageant Saturday. Olivia Kumpf was First Runner-up while Megan Keller was awarded Second Runner-up.
Little is the daughter of Jim and Donna Little.
The five contestants had three criteria to meet during Saturday's pageant. They all completed an interview with three judges prior to the event but also had to display an evening gown and were presented impromptu questions during the evening gown portion of the contest.
Little was asked what teacher had made the most impact on her life.
The five contestants also presented a dance number in front of the crowd at Traditions Saturday.
They danced to "Shining Star" by Earth, Wind and Fire.
"Each of these girls are quality contestants," Popcorn Festival Executive Board President Evelyn Brown said. "None of these girls have ever been involved with a pageant before."
The crowd also heard from last year's First Runner-up and this year's pageant coordinator, Melissa Medearis.
"This festival has been a blast for me," Medearis told the crowd.
In addition, 2006 Popcorn Festival Queen Heather Palmer spoke, telling the crowd how much she enjoyed her time as queen.
"I was extremely honored to be named the first Popcorn Festival Queen," Palmer said. "Tonight is not about who will finish first, it's about creating memories that will last a lifetime."
The three judges for the event were Terre Haute residents Pam and Jim Bertoli along with WTWO news reporter Katie Shane. Pam Bertolie is Orville Redenbacher's granddaughter.
Other contestants competing Saturday included Morgan Keller and Jessica Robertson.
The 2007 Redenbacher Popcorn Festival of Clay County will begin on Oct. 4 and conclude on Oct. 7.
