A deputy of the Clay County Sheriff's Dept caught a Terre Haute man allegedly breaking into storage units early Sunday morning.

Deputy Jerry Siddons was dispatched to the Attic Storage facility near Bowen Ford after a neighbor reported suspicious activity in the area.

Upon arriving at 2157 W. U.S. 40, Siddons discovered Kevin W. Owens, 42, near a storage unit with a burglary tool in his possession and an undetermined amount of apparent stolen property inside his vehicle.

Owens was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Clay County Justice Center. He was preliminary charged with criminal recklessness, trespass, residential entry, burglary and public intoxication.

Processed for two bonds, one for public intoxication in the amount of $3,000 and a second one for the burglary charge for $10,000, Owens remains in custody while awaiting arraignment.
