Some residents living along State Road 59 will soon have better water pressure.
In Tuesday's special meeting of the Brazil Board of Works and Public Safety, a project to repair service lines was approved.
Water Superintendent Jake Raubuch and Assistant Water Superintendent Dick Vanatti were on hand to explain the work to be done.
"From 2000-2007, there have been a total of 91 leaks in the lines we are planning to fix," Vanatti said.
The work will be done by Barrett's Excavating and Landscaping, of Center Point, at an approximate cost of $16,800. This will include the replacement of an eight-inch water main and existing service lines through boring.
A total of 14 residents and one business will be affected by the line replacements, all on the east side of SR 59, in an approximate area between County Roads 750 N and 800 N.
"By replacing the lines, the residents in the area should have better water pressure," Raubach said. "Also, Barrett's will also come back and fix the yards where the work will be done."
Work is anticipated to begin within the next two weeks.
The next regular meeting of the Brazil Board of Works and Public Safety will be Thursday, Aug. 30, 2007, at 1 p.m. in the Council Chambers of City Hall. The public is welcome to attend.
