The Brazil Board of Works and Public Safety approved the purchase of a new city vehicle in their meeting Thursday afternoon.
"The vehicle currently used by the department is broken down," Wastewater Treatment Plant Manager Shirley Jolly said. "We plan on using the vehicle the Sewer Department has and buying them a new one."
Jolly said she received bids from York Chevrolet and Bob Bowen Ford for a new truck.
The board approved the York Chevrolet bid for a 2008 Chevy 1500 4x4 truck at a cost of $19,416. This was $433 more than the one from Bob Bowen, but it was selected due to its advantages.
"The vehicle from York also has added equipment for snow plowing and towing capabilities," Jolly said. "Their vehicle is also currently on the lot, whereas we would have to wait about eight weeks for the vehicle from Bob Bowen to come in."
The board also approved the cleanup of three residential houses in the area, along with giving one resident a 30-day extension to create an agreement to have their house torn down as well as having the yard cleaned up and cut. The resident has already moved out of the house.
Claims from the Clerk's and Utility's Offices were also accepted.
The next regular meeting of the Brazil Board of Works and Public Safety will be held Thursday, Sept. 27, at 1 p.m. in the Council Chambers of City Hall.
