Resurfacing to begin on US 40 next week

Friday, August 31, 2007

The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) recently announced resurfacing on United States 40 from one-and-a-half mile east of State Road 59 to the Putnam County line will begin Tuesday, Sept. 4.

There will be daytime lane restrictions in the area that will be worked on.

Wabash Valley Asphalt Company was awarded the $1.2 million resurfacing project contract. The construction is scheduled for completion in July 2008.

INDOT encourages motorists to be aware of temporary lane closures in the area and to proceed with caution while traveling through work zones.

Meanwhile, INDOT recently announced that SR 246 re-opened today 2.9 miles east of US 41. Crews were repairing the heavy equipment crossing at the entrance of the Black Beauty Coal Mine.
