Money was the main topic of discussion for the Clay County Council Tuesday night.
For additional appropriations, the council unanimously approved $1,000 from the General Fund for the Washington Township Trustee, who recently completed training to obtain a Level II status. They also approved $10,000 for public defender costs due to the increased amount of appeals in the criminal court system and an additional $1,000 from the Reassessment Fund for extra supplies to mail out the remainder of the Form 11's to county residents.
The council also amended the salary of the Grant Administrator with money out of the Indiana Criminal Justice Center's Juvenile Block Grant. The administrator will receive a salary of $1,800 for the 2007 fiscal year and $1,300 for the 2008 fiscal year.
A total transfer of $1,111 from the computer equipment and supplies funds was also completed in order to match grant funds for the juvenile and adult probate user fees.
The council also approved an ordinance for the collection of fees for individuals registering as a sex or violent offender. The ordinance, which was also unanimously approved earlier in the day by the Clay County Commissioners, calls for the collected fees to go into the County General Fund.
The next meeting of the Clay County Council will be Monday, Oct. 1, at 6 p.m. in the Commissioners' Courtroom at the Clay County Courthouse.
