Delores L. Sparks, 95, Terre Haute, formerly of Cory, passed away Sept. 6, 2007, at 6:45 a.m., at Westridge Healthcare Facility.
She was born May 22, 1912, in Clay County, the daughter of Rudolph and Goldie (Shaw) Kester.
She graduated from Cory High School in 1930.
In the past, she had been a cook at the Cory School for more than 10 years and she retired from Meadows Manor East, where she had been a cook, in 1976. She was a devoted mother and granny.
Survivors include one daughter, Veronica "Vickie" Hofmann and husband Don; one son, Kermit H. Sparks and wife Mary Ann; one brother, Gerald Kester, all of Terre Haute; one sister, Joanna Kester, Mt. Shasta, Calif.; seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Robert E. Sparks; one grandchild, Kimberly; two sisters, Dorothy Price and Jackie Dishon; three brothers, Kermit Kester, Harold Kester and Bill Kester.
Services will take place at 11 a.m. Monday at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home, Clay City, with Pastor David Deal officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Riley.
Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Sunday and again Monday prior to services.
