FRANKLIN -- The Clay City Imperial Regiment faced a busy weekend.

The marching band conducted a community performance Friday and performed at its first contest of the season at Franklin Central on Saturday. The Imperial Regiment finished third in the competition.

The Imperial Regiment also won Best Prop Crew at the competition.

The Imperial Regiment, under the direction of Mark Ziegler, will take part in an invitational Saturday at Warren Central.

The band's 2007 fall show is called "Circles." Selections from the show include "First Circle" and "Full Circle."

Unlike the Imperial Regiment, the Northview Marching Knights had the weekend off.

However, Northview did have one extra week to prepare for its first show of the season.

The Marching Knights will compete in an invitational at Plainfield on Saturday.

The Knights, under the direction of Bob Medworth, are performing "Musical Chairs" this season, which includes "Powaquattsi," "The Theme from Carmen," "Zorba the Greek," the theme from the movie "The Mission" and "Kleines Requiem Polka."
