Twice the Knights trailed Putnam County's top-dog, Greencastle, a perennial thorn in Northview's side, but with just two minutes remaining in a tie game, Charlie Greichgauer scored on a shot from the wing to give the Knights a 3-2 upset victory.
Heather Foxx had the tall order of limiting the Tiger Cubs' scoring machine, Hannah Spencer. While Spencer did tally both of Greencastle's goals in the game, Foxx played splendidly and added two steals in the contest.
Spencer got the game's scoring started when she found the net at the 33 minute mark of the first half off of a centering pass, but Northview rebounded eight minutes later as Carlee Bell sent a left-footed shot to the back of the net off an Ashley Woodcox feed.
Sweeper Cayla Yockey was forced from the game during the half due to an injury following a hard foul from Spencer, though Yockey would return in the second half.
With 20 minutes left before the half, Spencer put Greencastle on top via a header. The Knights would even the score six minutes later as Jenny Woodcox scored on an assist by Bell.
The second half became a battle of wills which was scoreless for much of play, but with time winding down, the Knights began to assert themselves. Over the final six minutes, Northview took four shots, including the game-winner from Greichgauer.
Credit goes to the defense led by Tiffany Young's three steals and six saves from keeper, Christina Arvin. Abby Birkey controlled traffic in the middle of the field for Northview and fullback Ashley Clarke filled in admirably during Yockey's absence.
The Knights are back in action on Wednesday when they host Edgewood at 5 p.m.
