Melissa Chrisman recently returned from Irvine, Calif., after attending a seven-week research experience for undergraduates at the University of California in Orange County with the Earth System Science Dept.

Melissa was one of seven chosen for the summer internship with Dr. Adam Martiny, researching the global abundance of cyanobacteria and how much they contribute to the global carbon cycle. This internship was specifically for studying the earth sciences, and will be used in the future to help research the effects of global warming.

She is a 2004 graduate of Northview High School and is a senior at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, working toward a degree with a double major in Applied Biology and Biochemistry/Molecular Biology.
