The Brazil City Police Department is accepting applications from people interested in becoming a volunteer reserve patrolman with the department.
"Originally we had a deadline of Sept. 1 for accepting applications," Captain Dave Archer said Thursday. "But we had several interested people contact us after that date, so we extended the deadline."
Law enforcement agencies rely upon volunteer reserve officers to help with patrol duty, serve paperwork, provide traffic and crowd control at local festivals and parades and perform many other types of department activities.
With applications available until Sept. 19, Archer said further information about qualifications and the acceptance process will be provided by dispatchers.
The department will begin the selection process from the applications on Sept. 23.
