Born May 25, 1940, in Clay County, he was the son of Charles and Flonnie Lay Barron.
In the past, he had worked at the Pillsbury Plant in Seelyvile and had last worked as a production worker for Chrysler in Indianapolis, retiring in 1979, due to a decline in health.
He was of the Baptist faith.
He enjoyed watching college basketball and was very proud to be a grandpa.
Survivors include his two daughters and sons-in-laws, Jami and Michael Hewitt, Shirley, Ind., and Stacey and Kim Barnes, Rocky Mount, N.C.; three grandchildren, Nickolas Hewitt, Heather Hewitt and Kayla Brooke Barnes; two sisters, Wanda Rogers and husband Harold, and Margie Clark, all of Brazil; several nieces and nephews and other extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Don Barron, Charles Barron and Ed Barron.
Graveside services will be conducted today at 11 a.m. at Maple Grove Cemetery, Clay City. Schoppenhorst Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements.
