Born May 9, 1934, in Beech Creek, Ky., she was the daughter of Ervin and Lillian Pentecost Evitts.
She married Kenny K. Knust on November 7, 1956, in Terre Haute. He preceded her in death on Feb. 8, 2005.
She was employed as a cashier for many years at Kroger and A&P. She had also worked at Bell Telephone Company and the Arketex plant offices. While working at the Kroger store in the Meadows Shopping Center in Terre Haute, she served as the U.F.C.W. union steward for many years.
She was a member of the Mount Calvary United Methodist Church in Cory since 1957.
She was preceded in death by her beloved great-grandmother, Ma Hattie Warman; her parents; her husband Kenneth Knust; two brothers, Kenneth Ray Evitts and Albert "Bud" Evitts; and sister Betty June Cutliff.
She is survived by one son, Kenneth D. Knust and wife Deborah, Springville, Ind.; one daughter, Debra Johnson, Terre Haute; one brother, Jimmy Evitts and wife Darlene, Terre Haute; five grandchildren, Shelley Ann Knust, Charity Knust, Joshua Johnson, Jeremiah Johnson and wife Christine and Curtis Smith; four great-grandchildren, Michael Rohlfing, Brianna Johnson, Ike Johnson and Marie; several nieces and nephews; brother-in-law Ronnie Cutliff, and sister-in-law Faith Evitts.
Services will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, at Moore Funeral Home with Elder Curtis Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Van Cleve Cemetery.
Visitation is from 4-8 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 18, at Moore Funeral Home and one hour prior to services.
