The K-Day Parade is a fun time for visitors, but the Brazil City Police Department also wants it to be a safe time.
"We are asking people to start removing their vehicles from US 40 around noon, so the road will be cleared when we begin blocking it off for the parade," Police Chief Harrison said. "We want the route to be as clear as possible for when the parade starts at 2 p.m. There's plenty of parking in the area for parade visitors."
Officers will begin blocking the road off westward from Vandalia Street to the US 40/State Road 340 intersection, and all the side streets, going west of Brazil at 1 p.m.
Vehicles parked on the road during the parade create potential safety hazards for people in the parade and spectators along side the route.
"Drivers are focused on the parade route in front of them, only looking right or left every so often," Harrison said. "It can be difficult to keep watch on children running out into the road for that extra piece of candy, especially from behind a parked car."
