The Clay County Artists presented a painting of the "Mansfield Mill" to Sharon Brown, Director of the Senior Center, to be used as part of their fund raiser.
They will be selling raffle tickets on the painting which will be raffled off Oct. 7, at the Popcorn Festival. There are a limited number of prints available also. The prints were made by A+ Printing, who also donated part of their work. Prints are $5 and framed prints for $25.
The six artists, who meet on Tuesday morning at the Center, painted different portions of the picture using their medium of preference. Joyce Jensen used acrylic for the sky, Julie Bricker did the building with watercolor and pencil, Jane Mercer painted the trees in oil, the grass was done in oil by Judy Anderson, the bridge in oil by Jackie Hendricks, and Carol Nickey did the water in oil. All agreed that it was a fun project and one of their best.
Anyone interested in joining the group is welcome -- either to paint or observe. Each person works on his own project and welcomes critiquing.
Those interest in purchasing raffle tickets or prints can stop by the Senior Center 120 S. Franklin St., in Brazil, any week day morning or at the Popcorn Festival. For more information contact the Center at 812-448-8848.
