Clay City takes third, Northview wins

Monday, September 24, 2007

The Clay City Imperial Regiment competed in two contests Saturday.

The Imperial Regiment took part in an invitational in Avon and another in Greenwood, coming away with third-place finishes in both.

At Avon, the Imperial Regiment tallied 57.25 points. However, Clay City's score was better at Greenwood, scoring 64.35 points.

In addition, the Imperial Regiment also won Best Auxiliary at Greenwood.

Northview also competed Saturday, taking part in a contest at Brownsburg.

The Marching Knights scored 73.40 points to win the invitational. Plainfield was second at 72.35 while Bloomington North came in third at 68.8. Whiteland was fourth at 61.85 and Westfield finished fifth at 61.40.

Northview also captured Best Music, Best Visual, Best General Effect, Best Percussion and Best Guard.

"I think we performed very well Saturday evening at Brownsburg," NHS band director Bob Medworth said. "A number of major changes were made Thursday night and with only a two-hour rehearsal Saturday morning, the band was able to perform with a remarkable level of confidence. This is a reflection of the attitude of the students and parents involved, which to this point in the season has been fantastic."

The Knights will compete in District competition at Southport High School Saturday. Northview will also perform Saturday at the RCA Dome for the Northview football team's Western Indiana Conference game against South Vermillion.

"This week, we look forward to performing at ISSMA District Contest at Southport and then traveling to the RCA Dome," Medworth said.

Clay City also takes part in District competition this weekend, but a site has yet to be determined.

I would just like to point out that it's not about who scores highest, but actually about who works the hardest to achieve their goals. The Marching Knights and Imperial Regiments are truly an amazing group of kids that strive to achieve excellence in everything. Great job, all!
