CLAY CITY -- The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) will conduct a public hearing to discuss the proposed improvements to State Road 59 in Clay County at 6 p.m., Wednesday.
The meeting will take place at the Clay City Junior/Senior High School auditorium, 601 Lankford St., Clay City.
The purpose of the hearing is to offer all interested persons an opportunity to comment on current design plans for the proposed improvements.
The project on SR 59 is from SR 157 to First Street in Clay City.
The improvements include two 12-foot travel lanes with 10-foot parking lanes along both sides of the roadway.
Curbs, gutters and sidewalks will also be added.
The intersection of SR 157 and 9th Street will be improved by removing a curve and will be treated as a three-way stop sign.
Interested persons will be given the opportunity to make public comments on the proposal.
INDOT encourages all to attend the meeting.
Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. with a formal presentation set for 6 p.m. in the school auditorium. INDOT representatives will be available to answer questions and concerns before and after the formal presentation.
