Historical Society to open cabins for Popcorn Festival

Tuesday, October 2, 2007

The Clay County Historical Society held its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. on Monday night at the Clay County Museum in Brazil.

Vice President Vickie Mace presided over the business meeting.

The secretary reviewed old business, and then Mace proceeded with new business.

The Historical Society is opening its cabins to the public during the Popcorn Festival, and passed around a sign-up sheet for volunteers to man the cabins.

The society received a grant from the Clay County Community Foundation to pay for re-painting the museum building.

There were 19 members of the Historical Society present for the meeting.

After business was adjourned, a video on the automobile maker Auburn Cord Deusenberg Museum in Auburn, Ind., was shown. Several members of the Historical Society have visited the museum and its annual festival.

Thanksgiving will be celebrated at next month's meeting, on Nov. 5, at 6 p.m.

Also, Matt Huber will be giving a presentation on World War I at the November meeting.
