InShape Indiana to conduct walk at Popcorn Festival

Wednesday, October 3, 2007

Grab your shoes for a walk in Forest Park Saturday morning at the Popcorn Festival.

Registration for the walk is from 8:30-9 a.m. at Shelter 13, by the swimming pool.

The event is part of InShape Indiana, WALKS ACROSS INDIANA statewide program.

The walk is open to all who enjoy exercise for fun and fitness.

The first 25 to register will receive free pedometers, and the first 70 to register will also receive a free bottle of water.

All participants will receive certificates with the official WALK ACROSS INDIANA logo. Additional pedometers will be available for $3.

Sponsored at the festival by the Purdue Extension Office, located at the Clay County 4-H Fairgrounds, the walk officially lasts from 9-10 a.m. so those interested will not miss the bed race.

Those interested in the walk may choose between a route of one-sixth of a mile, which includes the shady walking track, and a full mile route, which includes the walking track and the wooden bridges, or those walking may make their own rules and still get credit.

What a great idea!
