Knights earn regional championship berth

No. 1 singles player, Austin Akers, returns a shot during sectional play last week. Akers won a two-game match against Shelbyville to help pace the Knights to a berth in the regional championship match today.
GREENWOOD -- The Northview tennis team extended their season by earning a berth in the regional championship match this afternoon at 4:30 p.m

The Knights got wins at both doubles positions and from No. 1 singles player Austin Akers to advance to the finals.

The Knights will be facing No. 2 ranked Center Grove this afternoon, a 5-0 winner.

Akers scored a straight set victory, 6-4, 6-2 against Adam Weaver of Shelbyville. The No. 1 doubles team of Ryne Barr and Matt Nodley won a 6-2, 6-1 decision over Nick Dunigan and Kirk Hutchinson and the No. 2 doubles team of Brock Lawson and Caleb Mershon won 6-3, 6-2 to get the victory.
